TThe XXI APCAC Technical Conference
took place with a joyous ambiance at the Trinidad Hilton
Hotel, during October 25th to 28th, 2004.
150 delegates joined the Trinidad Cement Limited (TCL) staff
and the APCAC officers, during 4 days, with the fist day
seminar sponsored by Refratechnick and GE Energy (formerly
BHA Group).
Mr. Chandrabhan Sharma, President
of the Association of Professional Engineers of Trinidad
and Tobago (APETT) delivered the opening address of the
event. The opening Ceremony was chaired by the APCAC President
Christian Agnès, the President of the Technical Committeee
Mr. Hernán Muñiz and Mr. Arun Goyal representing
the hosting company, TCL. Dr. Rollin Bertrand, CEO of TCL
Group of Companies, took part in the ceremony and many of
the Conference activities as well.
24 technical papers were presented
and eulogized by the delegates due to heir quality and applicability
to the cement plant operations. The following were selected
by the Technical Committeee as the three best Technical Papers
of APCAC company members:
1st.
Prize –
Recent Experiences in Maintenance Management in a Cement
Plant,by Ms. Suzane Ali of Carib Cement.
2nd.
Prize –
Waste Oil Burning, by Mr. Lawrence Evans of Essroc San
Juan.
3rd.
Prize –
The Orimulsion Experience at Arawak Cement, by Mr. Matthew
Thornhill of Arawak Cement.
Also eighteen exhibitors offered
their products, equipments and service during 3 days in
the booths area. After a very colouring and pleasant Gala
Dinner and closing party, the staff of TCL received the
delegated during the last day of the Conference, with a
visit their plant in Claxton Bay.
With the rhythm of TCL Skiffle
Bunch Steelband all delegates enjoyed a successful Conference
and Trinidad hospitality, wich accompanied it. The APCAC
President closed the event, looking forward to host participants
again in Costa
Rica in October 2005 .
